Notes for Peter Noyes
From Paul Noyes' Web Page:
Called gentleman, of Andover, he was Attorney of the Court of Common Pleas,
and therefore attained a position of prominence in Court and procedure that
many of his relatives relied on in pursuing their legal interests. "Peter Noyes of
Andover esq." was also escheator of Hampshire and Wiltshire in 1616. Peter
Noyes maintained his ties with the Noyes family of Urchfont, and was called
"cousin" of Robert Noyes (of the Urchfont branch) of Hatherden, HAnts., in
1636/7, and, as "kinsman," served as overseer of the will of William Noyes, also
of the Urchfont branch (1619). His capital messuage and residence in Andover
was held of the President and Scholars of Magdalen College, Oxford, and
therefore was probably the manor of King's Enham.
